Season 1
- E1 S.N.A.F.U. Three soldiers return home from World War II and each is faced with his own set of problems. Two brothers in love with the same girl; race discrimination; gender discrimination in the work force; family betrayal; and a soldier's death.
- E2 Bedsprings The Sloans try to pay Gina to leave town when they learn she's pregnant, touching off a swell of support for the widowed war bride. Jeff's anonymous love poem to his brother's sweetheart goes astray.
- E3 So All Alone The Sloans fire the Davises for helping Gina. Caroline and Charlie discuss birth control. Hank and Sarah's impending wedding depresses Jeff and Ginger.
- E4 Patriots Mike Sloan, Sr. tries to keep the workers from organizing when union organizer Al Kahn comes to town. Jeff and Ginger date publicly, Abe plots to get his job back by bringing Gina back into the Sloan family.
- E5 Holier Than Thou, Too Union activity at the plant divides the town. Linda tries to talk her brother Hank out of becoming management while their mother confronts organizer Al about the danger he's brought to her family. Robert Davis joins the union after being attacked by racist co-workers, but has to fight his father on the issue.
- E6 Toledo Caroline's angry when her husband jealousy attacks Charlie over Ginger. Jeff and Ginger travel to Toldeo for a pregnancy test while Caroline strikes out at her husband by leaving town with a travelling salesman.
- E7 Kids Gina finds a place, unaware that it was arranged by her hated former father-in-law. Charlie tells Ginger he married the wrong woman, but continues to make plans to start a family. Linda and Hank fight but manage to make improvements at the plant.
- E8 Man, This Joint is Jumping A dance contest promising a chance at a Hollywood screentest steps up competition between Ginger and Caroline, and sends Jeff to a dance studio for lessons. It also gives Mike Sr. a chance to charm workers out of unionizing, and allows Al Kahn to trip the light fantastic with Anne.
- E9 Splitting Hairs The Sloans' tactic of hiring blacks to scare the workers into leaving the union backfires when the new employees start joining up. Hank confronts his boss over his attempt to bring race into the union issue, Anne falls for organizer Al, and Ginger heads to Hollywood with Jeff.
- E10 Szabo's Travels Ginger sticks it out in California but Jeff heads back to Ohio. Anne crosses religious lines to date Al. The Davises go into business for themselves.
- E11 Sinners Reconciled Gina has her baby, which is born with a serious illness. Anne attempts to reconcile with Al via Christmas cookies.
- E12 All These Things Will I Give Thee Linda is tempted by an offered management position just as the workers rebel over news of Ruth Sloan's new fur. Ruth accepts Gina and the baby into her home, and Mike Sloan tells Caroline he'll be ready to repay the Hailey's kindness to his daughter-in-law.
- E13 When It Rains, It Pours Linda gets a new view of her old boyfriend, Mike Sloan Jr., when old Army buddy Bill Caswell arrives in town. The Davis family searches for a misplaced gall bladder, and Anne and Al's relationship goes a step further. Jeff is accepted as a rookie ballplayer.
- E14 That's the Way the Cookie Crumbles Jeff departs for spring training in Florida. The Davises face discrimination in getting a loan for their business.
- E15 Bad Connection Jeff's worries at training camp turn him toward a sports-savvy bar owner who happens to be female. Ginger copes with an amorous boss.
- E16 Getting to First Base Caroline Hailey becomes a management spy, ruining the planned strike at the plant. Jeff makes the cut in camp but loses Ginger when she catches him red-handed.
- E17 No Man Loyal and Neutral Linda is suspected of being the management spy, and the tension over the union results in violence at the Metcalf home. Judy reunites Jeff and Ginger.
- E18 First Sign of Spring Sarah dies, and the Sloans beg Gina to leave the dangerous Metcalf house. Anne announces she's pregnant.
- E19 At Your Age Jeff's hometown debut with the Indians brings everyone out to the ballgame. Meanwhile, Hank feels alienated from his family after learning that Al will soon be part of it; Grandma Davis plays matchmaker for Robert, who has another gal in mind.
- E20 Obstinacy or Constancy? Al lies to the wokers about union money, trying to pull them into a strike. Caroline tries to dissaude Charlie from participating in the strike by telling him she's pregnant. Anne is determined to raise her baby Catholic. Judy Owens moves to town.
- E21 If You Want It Done Right... The union goes on strike and as tensions inside the Sloan factory rise, Gina's resourcefulness keeps the situation from turning violent. Abe relents when he goes to argue with his striking son.
- E22 Spanish Moss Hank moves out of the house as Anne prepares to marry Al. Charlie's growing closeness to Gina gets serious when he learns of Caroline's lies. The Davises are reluctant to accept help from their former employer despite the impossibility of getting a bank loan.
- E23 Songs Unsung Are Sweetest Charlie leaves Caroline when he learns she's the spy. Hank goes to his mother's wedding, Al lies to Anne about his father's acceptance of a non-Jewish bride and the Davises open their restaurant.
- E24 Take My Hand The Sloans refuse their son's last wish to have Gloria Davis, their black cook, sing at his funeral. Mike's Italian war bride, now a widow, confronts the girl he left behind.
Season 2
- E1 By Popular Demand Caroline tries to recover her husband and the Sloans become obsessed with what their employees are up to every weekend as the Davises sneak off to run their restaurant. Jeff battles a jealous rival to stay on the team, and Ginger strikes out when a photographer comes to town.
- E2 The Lemo Tomato Juice Hour Ginger becomes the ""Lemo Tomato Juice Girl,"" but can't marry Jeff if she wants to keep her job. Robert Davis brings his white French bride back to America, Linda writes a newspaper column, and Charlie falls for Gina and the baby.
- E3 Can't Say No The newlywed Davises run into trouble, Ginger is torn between Jeff and her career and Charlie threatens to expose Caroline's spying if she doesn't quit spreading rumors about Linda.
- E4 Appleknocker to Wed Tomatohawker Ginger becomes the prize for a local contest, inciting Jeff's jealousy. Robert and his bride decide to move when they get threats. Mike Sloan and Judy Owen hit it off at the baseball games.
- E5 A Nickel Plate Romance Ginger and Jeff break up again, and try to make each other jealous with Caroline and Charlie. Al takes a job at the bar and advises the warring couples.
- E6 When the Stars Begin to Fall Mike quits pursuing Judy when he witnesses his wife deliver the Kahns' baby. The young couples collide on the same train out of town as Ginger heads off on tour, Jeff goes with the team, and Caroline starts off to Reno for a divorce.
- E7 The Traveling Lemo All-Stars Jeff and the Lemo All-Stars board a train bound for promotional games west of the Mississippi, as do the Lemo Tomato Juice Girl, and Caroline, who's bound for Reno in search of a quickie divorce. Back in River Run, an apple cobbler in their oven alerts Ruth and Mike to Gloria and Abe's deception; Anne and Al can't agree on a name for the newborn.
- E8 First Comes Love, Then Comes Marriage The Sloans try to talk the Davises into giving up their restaurant. Jeff and Ginger's romance suffers from massive misunderstandings.
- E9 Life is Short The scourge of polio invades the Metcalf-Kahn home as new mother Anne is stricken with the disease, her family is quarantined and others who come in contact with her fear the worst. Meanwhile, Mike dreads the coming of another birthday; and 50-year-old Abe fears he's losing his memory, just as his father did.
- E10 Signed, Crazy in Love Anne comes home in a wheelchair, the Davises test the competition, and Charlie gets a job as a Fuller Brush salesman.
- E11 Like Being There When You're Not TV seems to be the wave of the future, which could signal the end of Ginger and Jeff's radio show; a local sportswriter receives kudos after Judy ghostwrites his column on the Indians; and suspicions of infidelity lurk at the Sloan home.
- E12 Who, What, When, Where, Why and How Mike tells his angry wife that he's afraid of being blamed in the death of writer Nadolski, and that Judy Owen suspects him. Jeff's irritated when Linda begins dating the newspaper editor.

- E15 The Lacemakers Lacemaker Gina is unnerved by terrifying flashbacks to her days in a Nazi concentration camp, and Charlie is baffled by her mood swings. Meanwhile, saved items hold treasured memories for Grandmother , who doesn't want to impose when she's asked to move in with Abe and Gloria.
- E16 Shabbat Shalom After a chat with Ruth, Gina refuses Charlie's marriage proposal because she wants her baby, Emma, to grow up in a Jewish home with a Jewish father who knows all the customs. After imagining what life would be like if the Sloans were their housekeepers, Abe and Gloria decide to quit their job with the Sloans and focus on their cafe, where a cop's patronal visits are driving Gloria crazy. Jeff tries to hide his jealousy when Arthur starts to make appearances on ""Fine Foods Family Hour"" with Ginger.

- E18 On the Rebound Episode airs in syndication; Ginger continues a hot and heavy courtship with Arthur Schillabe, Charlie pursues Gina with some force, and Jeff tries unsuccesfully to manage a rendezvous with Caroline Hailey. Unlike his tender romance with Ginger, Jeff (out of character) and Caroline go to her rooming house, and strip down to undergarments--Caroline throws his shirt on the hotplate, starting a fire. Gina and Charlie burst in to help, finding Jeff in his underwear and Caroline in a slip. They successfully meet at a hotel, after which Jeff complains to Judy about the lack of real feeling. To which (figuring out that Jeff slept with Ginger at some point) Judy knowingly informs him the earth only moves when you're in love. This points Jeff back toward Ginger, and gets the ball rolling.
